PHOTOINJECTOR RESEARCH
DESY, Hamburg location, is seeking:
Post-Doc (f/m) in optics/laser physics
DESY
DESY is one of the world’s leading research centres for photon science, particle and astroparticle physics as well as accelerator physics. DESY’s laser science and technology group is responsible for research, development and operations of high power femtosecond and picosecond lasers related to particle accelerators and free electron lasers (FEL). DESYs linear accelerators typically use photocathode guns to produce well defined electron bunches for acceleration. For our continuing R&D efforts to improve the efficiency and quality of the laser-triggered electron bunch generation we seek to hire a highly motivated post-doc (f/m).
The position
-Research and development of advanced laser beam shaping concepts for generating low-emittance photoelectrons using diffractive optical elements and active closed loop control of laser beam profiles
-Bring theoretical concepts to laser-lab-experiments
-Test experimental setup at accelerator facilities in close collaboration with accelerator physicists
Requirements
-PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering or similar discipline
-Strong background both in simulations and laser-lab experiments
-Ability to perform self-driven research in a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers
-Demonstrated experience in laser beam shaping is desirable, experience in non-linear and ultrafast optics is a plus
-Ability to communicate effectively and to present results both orally and in writing in a multilingual, multi-disciplinary research environment
For further information please contact Dr. Ingmar Hartl ingmar.hartl@desy.de.
The position is limited to 2 years.
Salary and benefits are commensurate with those of public service organisations in Germany. Classification is based upon qualifications and assigned duties. DESY operates flexible work schemes. Handicapped persons will be given preference to other equally qualified applicants. DESY is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer and encourages applications from women. There is a bilingual kindergarten on the DESY site.
We are looking forward to your application quoting the reference code preferably via our electronic application System: Online-Application or by email recruitment@desy.de
