DESY, Hamburg location, is seeking:
Postdoctoral Researcher (f/m) on ”GHz Photocathode Laser for REGAE”
DESY
DESY is one of the world’s leading research centres for photon science, particle and astroparticle physics as well as accelerator physics. DESY’s laser science and technology group is responsible for research, development and operations of high power femtosecond and picosecond lasers related to particle accelerators and free electron lasers (FEL). We are developing a high repetition rate ultrafast photocathode laser to be installed at a relativistic electron microscope for time resolved electron microscopy and seek a highly motivated post-doc (f/m) for this project.
The position
-Research and development of a high-repetition frequency Yb-fiber laser, a filter-cavity and frequency conversion stages for a photocathode-laser prototype
-Commissioning of the photocathode-laser at the electron microscope
-Conducting test experiments at the microscope to characterize its performance
Requirements
-PhD in Physics, Electrical Engineering or similar discipline
-Ability to perform self-driven research, to co-ordinate experiments, to collaborate with accelerator physicists and inspire the research of coworkers
-Demonstrated experience in ultrafast fiber-lasers
-Experience in electronics, feedback controls and accelerator physics is a plus
-Ability to communicate effectively and to present results both orally and in writing in a multilingual, multi-disciplinary research environment
