In the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the Department of Physics and Astronomy we are looking for a doctoral student for a fixed-term position. On the basis of this application, we will fill at most two one year position. However, based on the demand on time what it takes form a doctoral candidate to finish his/her studies the employment can be shorter than a year. The employment begins at the earliest 1.2.2016 and ends at the latest 31.12.2016.
The main task of a doctoral student is to do research for the doctoral thesis on some research fields of physics, theoretical physics or materials research which are practiced in the department. Furthermore, the task includes also teaching in demonstrations sessions and participating an administrative and other duties specified by to the employer. We are especially looking for a doctoral student at the final stage of the doctor education.
The successful candidate will have a higher academic degree and the right to pursue the doctoral degree at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Turku. Furthermore, we require that the doctoral candidate has demonstrated good ability and high motivation to doctoral studies either in graduate studies and/or in pursuing the doctoral degree according to the research plan.
A current CV and a publication list and a clarification of the current status of doctoral studies and a plan and a timetable how the degree will be finished has to be included to the application.
The salary is in accordance with the University salary system (for teaching and research personnel) level s 2-4, where the work specific salary component is 1972.55-2462.01€/month. In addition, there is a share increase based on the personal performance, which is, at most, 46.3% of the base salary depending on the previous relevant research experience of the candidate.
