Job description:
The experimental high-energy physics group at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa, invites applications for a fully funded Ph.D student position on the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider, with a starting date in March/April 2016.

Witwatersrand is a member institute collaborating Tile Calorimeter, contributing to maintenance, operations and upgrade, with emphasis on high-throughput electronics and radiation studies. The group contributes to searches using the Higgs boson, and has strong interest in jet substructure techniques, Standard Model measurements and Monte Carlo event generators. Preference will be given to South African or African nationals with a completed Masters degree in Physics, with some research experience. Exceptional non-African students with strong research experience and completed masters degree are also encouraged to apply.
