Job description:
The Experimental Particle Physics group at the AGH University of Science and Technology, Faculty of Physics and Applied Computer Sciences in Kraków, Poland invites applications for a postdoctoral position onthe ATLAS experiment at the  LHC.

 

The successful candidate will work with a group of Dr. Iwona Grabowska-Boldas part of the Polish National Science Center project "Study of high-pT processes in heavy-ion collisions with the ATLAS detector at the LHC". The group has experience in W and Z boson measurements in both lead-lead and proton-proton collisions in the ATLAS experiment. The candidate will be expected to take a leading role  in the analysis of tt-bar production in the proton-lead system, and contribute to trigger upgrade studies in the context of heavy-ion collisions.

 

Requirements:

- PhD degree in physics or completed PhD dissertation and positive referee reports,

- record of participation in an international collaboration in elementary particle physics,
- experience with data analysis from particle physics experiments in the framework oflarge international collaborations,

- ability to work in a team,

- proficiency in C++, Python and Root,

- knowledge of English (certificate B2 or equivalent),

- additional advantage will be a membership in the ATLAS collaboration at the LHC and experience in analysing data from heavy-ion collisions.

 

Employment conditions:

One year contract starting from 1 May 2018 with a possible one-year extension.

- Copy of the document in support of a PhD degree, and a certificate of English B2 or equivalent,

- List of publications also including talks given at conferences and organisational achievements,

- Two recommendation letters, one of them should be provided by the latest employer or PhD thesis supervisor.
