The Theory group of the Physics Department at the University of Milan Bicocca (Italy) invites applications for two Ph.D. fellowships in high-energy Phenomenology, funded by the REINVENT (QCD Phenomenology, Monte Carlo and Resummation; PI
Simone Alioli)  ERC Starting Grant.

The successful applicants will be enrolled in the Ph.D. school at the Milan Bicocca University starting Fall 2018, for a period of three years. Their Ph.D. fellowships will be fully funded and they will be endowed with a very generous travel allowance supporting their participation in schools, conferences and collaboration meetings and scientific exchanges. The Ph.D. program offers several taught courses that will be delivered by members of the physics department as well as from external invited lecturers.

The research interests of the Theory Group cover a wide variety of subjects including String Theory, Collider Phenomenology, Lattice QCD, Statistical Physics, and Cosmology. There are currently 15 faculty members, 10 Postdocs, and 10 Ph.D. students. A total of 5/6 new postdocs and 3/4 new Ph.D. students are expected to join next Fall, making the research environment very dynamic.

The salary range for the positions is competitive with European standards (approximate salary 15 kEuro/year after taxes).

Candidates expecting to complete a Master degree in Physics or related disciplines are encouraged to apply. An interest in interdisciplinary applications, and willingness to work in a team would be appreciated.
