Job description:
The Neutrino Physics and Astrophysics Group (GEFAN) at the University of Campinas (UNICAMP) is seeking candidates for one postdoctoral position.
The candidates may preferably have experience in the following fields:

Liquid argon technology for neutrino physics;

Scintillation light detection and collection in liquid argon;

Wavelength shifting techniques;

Data analysis and MC simulation.

The work of the experimental neutrino group is focused on the light collection system for the DUNE far detector and it has many commitments in its design, test and consstruction. The successful candidate will be initially involved in the R&D for the ARAPUCA device, a novel technology for liquid argon scintillation light detection which has been designed and developed at UNICAMP and which is a candidate for the light detection system of the DUNE far detector.

The GEFAN group has five faculties working on the neutrino physics: Orlando Peres, Marcelo Guzzo, Pedro de Holanda, Ernesto Kemp and Ettore Segreto, and several Master and PhD students. The University of Campinas (UNICAMP) is a public university in the State of São Paulo. It is one of top ranking Brazilian universities as well as in Latin America. The fellowship is provided by the Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de São Paulo (FAPESP) which is a public foundation located in São Paulo, Brazil. The fellowship includes grant for travel and research expenses of R\$ 12,274 Brazilian Reais per year.

The fellowship is for two years, with the possibility of extension up to two additional years (four years in total) depending on mutual interest. The starting date of the fellowship is April 1, 2018 however it is negotiable. Depending on mutual agreement, up to one year of the fellowship can be spent in a institution outside Brazil.

Interested candidates should send their CV with a list of publications, research proposal and 3 letters of reference to Prof. Orlando L. G. Peres (orlando@ifi.unicamp.br), and Prof. E. Segreto (segreto@ifi.unicamp.br).
