Job description:
The Astrophysics Group (http://www.sissa.it/ap) of the International School for Advanced Studies of Trieste (SISSA, Italy) is looking for a junior scientist willing to undertake a three years research program on Cosmic Microwave Background Polarization Anisotropies.
The program is provided by the Italian Space Agency through the ASI-COSMOS National Program (http://www.cosmosnet.it) and supports the analysis of ongoing observations targeting the B-mode of CMB anisotropies in polarization, as well as simulations and preparatory activities for future observatories. Ongoing research at SISSA concerns the data analysis of the PolarBear/Simons Array data, preparation for the Simons Observatory, for which SISSA is a Member Institution. The researcher is expected to contribute in particular in the following areas:
- study, control and removal of Diffuse Foreground Emission,
- simulations and characterization of Weak Gravitational Lensing and de-Lensing.
The program is strongly connected with partner institutions in the collaborations mentioned above, and includes support funds for travel; also, the work is related with the activities of the RadioForegrounds H2020 COMPET-5 Network (http://radioforegrounds.eu) for exploiting data from European Ground Based Observatories for low frequency foregrounds.
For further information please contact Carlo Baccigalupi (bacci@sissa.it). Completed applications, including a research statement, cv, list of publications, and three letters of recommendation, should be received no later than July 15, 2017. We've flexibility on the actual start date of the job, which has to be activated no later than the end of 2017.
