Job description:
Open Date: 11/17/2016
Close Date: 12/17/2016
Description
SRF Program in Technical Division is looking for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to work on various state-of-the-art problems in science and technology of superconducting radio frequency (SRF) cavities for particle acceleration.
Positions are for an initial period of up to three (3) years, with the potential for extension considered on a yearly basis thereafter.
Respects, understands and values individual differences that embody the principles of diversity.
Abide by all environment, safety, and health regulations.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
This position is with the focus on theoretical exploration/modeling and accompanying targeted experiments for:
· Understanding the physics of quench, including connection to vortex physics and nucleation time
· Studying the role of non-equilibrium superconductivity
· Designing and implementation of the heterogeneous surface layers for maximum sustainable gradients
· Improving the thin film performance.
Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
Application Instructions
Interested candidates should submit:
1) Curriculum vitae,
2) Statement of Research Interests,
3) List of selected publications, and
4) at least Three Letters of Reference (please send letters to Dr. Anna Grassellino at annag@fnal.gov)
Applicants should submit their material as soon as possible, as selection of candidates for interviews will begin immediately and will continue until all positions are filled.
For further questions regarding the position please contact Dr. Anna Grassellino at annag@fnal.gov.
Physical Activity and Work Conditions
HUMAN FACTORS: Mental Concentration, and Sitting.
PHYSICAL FACTORS: Cryogens, and Oxygen Deficiency Hazard.
There is no legal requirement that Fermilab sponsor an employee for U.S. permanent residence. As a result, Fermilab will make the decision to sponsor an employee on a case-by-case basis. Fermilab will consider the following factors, among others, when determining whether to sponsor an employee for U.S. permanent residence: performance, length of service, long-term need for the position, and cost.
Diverse people. Diverse jobs. Great science.
Fermilab is America’s particle physics and accelerator laboratory.
Fermilab is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Minorities/Women/Disabled/Veterans are encouraged to apply.
