Job description:
The Institute for Theoretical Particle Physics and Cosmology (TTK) at the RWTH Aachen University invites applications for two postdoctoral positions, one in Cosmology and one in Astroparticle Physics(at the salary level E13 TVL). The appointments are for two years, starting in fall 2017, and may be extended to one more year subject to performances.
Applicants should have acquired solid international-level skills in at least one of the following topics: for Cosmology, physics of the Early Universe, CMB physics, Large Scale Structure (galaxy correlations, lensing, 21cm), Particle Cosmology, Numerical Cosmology, Parameter Inference, Future surveys (e.g. Euclid, SKA, CORE…); for Astroparticle physics, cosmic ray acceleration and transport, radiation modelling of non-thermal sources, galactic diffuse emission in microwaves and gamma-rays, dark matter indirect searches, neutrino astrophysics.
The recruited post-docs will join the recently formed cosmology and astroparticle group of Pr. Julien Lesgourgues and Pr. Philipp Mertsch (joining in 2017), already hosting several other postdocs, as well as PhD and master students. They will have opportunities to collaborate with particle theorists at TTK, and/or with the experimental particle and astroparticle physics groups in Aachen (AMS, Ice Cube, Auger, CMS, …) Further information on the various institutes can be found here.
Applicants should provide a curriculum vitae, a list of publications and a brief description of their research interests (in a single pdf file). Applications should be send to the email address:
ttkpostdoc@physik.rwth-aachen.de
before December 17, 2016. In the subject field, please include at least: either the words ‘cosmology’, ‘2017’ and your family name (e.g.: ‘application cosmology 2017 Friedmann’), or the same with ‘astroparticle’ (e.g. ‘application astroparticle 2017 Pontecorvo’). In addition, the applicant should arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent to the same address.
