Job description:

The University of Siegen is an innovative and interdisciplinary oriented university with about 18,500 students, 1,900 employees, including about 1,200 scientists. In the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Technology there is an opening for a position starting November 1st, 2015 as

a postdoctoral research associate
(salary group 13 TV-L)

for a period of 1 year with the possibility to prolong the employment. The duration of employment conforms to the law on fixed-term contracts for scientific employees
(Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz).

Your responsibilities:

• Design, development, production, test and maintenance of digital readout and trigger electronics for the ATLAS pixel detector upgrade,
• Supervision and maintenance of the group’s electronics labs (e.g. logic analyzers, BGA repair station, wire bonder, etc.),
• Supervision of students during their laboratory work (e.g. during their thesis work), You possess:

• Final degree (Master of science or diploma in physics) in the field of experimental physics, preferably with the emphasis on experimental particle physics,
• Very good graduation preferably in experimental particle physics,
• Willingness to learn PCB design and FPGA programming tools,
• Experience with digital readout or trigger electronics (FPGA-based) and skills in the area of optical data transmission, ASIC design and/or administration of a Linux cluster are advantageous.
