Job description:
The ATLAS experiment at CERN seeks an outstanding applicant to join their team as an expert in communication.
ATLAS is a general-purpose particle detector on the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. One of the largest and most complex scientific instruments ever built, ATLAS investigates a wide range of physics, from the discovery of the Higgs boson to searches for extra dimensions and dark matter. The LHC, the world’s largest and most powerful particle accelerator, will restart for Run II in Spring 2015. The outreach team is dedicated to disseminating the goals and accomplishments of ATLAS to the public, policy ma kers, teachers, and students, by sharing its cutting edge physics program, world-leading technology, and global collaboration, through a variety of communication platforms.
The role will provide expertise in communication strategy, including social media, written content, development of the graphic charter, the ATLAS visitor centre, local and external events, and in particular multimedia. Photography skills are an asset. She or he would work in close collaboration with the two ATLAS outreach coordinators.
The period of the fellowship will be discussed case by case, and the post will be based at CERN near Geneva, Switzerland. It is aimed at communications experts working at an ATLAS university or institute, who have demonstrated a strong track record of leading communications in science. Please send a letter of motivation along with a CV to kate.shaw@cern.ch.
