Job # 13348

The Experimental High Energy Physics Group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has an immediate opening for a postdoctoral research associate to work on the CMS experiment.

The selected candidate will work in a group that has taken a leading role in the discovery of the Higgs bosons at 125 GeV and presently focuses on searching for Dark Matter and learning more about the Higgs physics. The successful candidate is expected to play a major role in this analysis effort.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in experimental particle physics, excellent data analysis, computing and programming skills and the ability to carry out an independent research program.

The MIT group is involved in several detector projects such as the Data Acquisition, the Hadron Calorimeter upgrade, the new High Granularity Calorimeter, and the Computing projects. At MIT we operate a Tier-2 computer center, providing resources for data analysis both locally and as part of the CMS computing grid. This position is targeted for a person taking a major responsibility in our Tier-2 computing center and in the recently started software development and operation of the Dynamic Data Management in CMS.

The position is available immediately and applications will be considered until the position is filled, but to ensure full consideration, candidates should apply by April 15, 2016. The appointment is initially for one year and renewable annually, subject to mutual satisfaction.
