The Department of Nuclear Physics is one of nine departments that comprise the Research School of Physics and Engineering, a unique and vibrant institution at the ANU where research is conducted at the highest international level. The Department of Nuclear Physics operates the largest heavy-ion accelerator facility in Australia, the operation of which is dependent upon its highly skilled technical support staff. The Department is seeking to appoint a Postdoctoral Fellow / Research Fellow (Academic Level A or B) to contribute to the pure and applied nuclear structure research to be performed with radioactive ion beams available from the CARIBU facility at Argonne National Laboratory. The Postdoctoral Fellow / Research Fellow will take a substantial role in prosecuting this research, including leading experiments, analysing and interpreting the data and preparing journal publications. As well as undertaking research with CARIBU, the person filling this position will participate in, and in some cases lead, local experiments using the research apparatus at the Heavy Ion Accelerator Facility, and will work collaboratively with academic and technical staff within the Department.
