Job description:
The Institute of Astrophysics IAC (Tenerife, Spain) invites applications for one postdoctoral contract to work in the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA).
This contract is financed by the "SEVERO OCHOA PROGRAM" (SEV-2015-0548), supported by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness. It follows the selection of the IAC as a Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence by the Spanish Government in 2015, a prestigious recognition awarded for the second time to the IAC as a leading research institute in Spain.
The selected candidate will pursue research related to the field of Astroparticles, and will carry out research on the following topics:
Preference will be given to researchers with a strong track record in the field of very high-energy astrophysics. The successful candidate should have a good publication record and leading original research experience.
To be eligible for admission, applicants must have completed a Ph.D. degree in Astroparticle Physics, Astrophysics or Particle Physics, within the application deadline (May 31, 2016). Those candidates who have done their PhD research at the IAC must have undertaken a period of training at other research centres. This period must consist of either one continuous year or 18 accumulated months (including periods of training during their doctoral period).
The duration of the contract will be for a period of 3 years. The starting date is expected to be in October of 2016.

* Participation in the preparation for Physics to be carried out with CTA, and will also have an active involvement in the data taking and analysis of MAGIC data.
* Expected to carry out tasks related to the installation of the prototype of the Large Size Telescope of CTA at the Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos.
