Job description:
We have an immediate opening for a post-doctoral research fellow in experimental nuclear physics at the University of the Western Cape and iThemba LABS, in Cape Town, South Africa. The fellowship is for one year, with a possibility of renewal for two additional years, contingent on performance and funding.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree, or equivalent, and a strong record of published research with significant contributions in the field of experimental low-energy nuclear physics. Some familiarity with ROOT and GEANT4 is expected.
The UWC/iThemba LABS research group comprise a large number of members involved in the study of nuclear structure and reactions, nuclear astrophysics and tests of fundamental symmetries using both stable and radioactive ion beams. We have active collaborations with other facilities in North America and Europe and are simultaneously involved in the development of a local Radioactive Ion Beam Demonstrator at iThemba LABS.
Interested applicants should email a brief statement of research (no more than 5 pages) and a curriculum vitae to Smarajit Triambak (striambak@uwc.ac.za). Three letters of recommendation should also be arranged to be sent the same email address independently.
