Job description:
The Faculty of Liberal Arts at Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez, Santiago (Chile), invites applications to host three post-doctoral positions in theoretical physics, to begin in November 2016.
The positions are funded by the Chilean government through the FONDECYT post-doctoral grants and have a duration of three years. The grant includes funds for travelling, settling down and operational costs. The application process has two steps, three candidates will be selected by the university by the end of February 2016 which will then apply to the grants at the beginning of April.
Successful candidates, who have been awarded the government grant, are expected to carry out research in modern theoretical physics. The Faculty’s high energy physics group at Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez involves: Prof Sergio Hojman, whose research focusses on general relativity and mathematical physics, Prof Osvaldo Chandia, whose interests are the covariant quantization of the superstring and the pure spinor formalism, Prof Andrés Anabalón (Viña del Mar campus) researching black holes in supergravity, non-linear stability of AdS and the fluid/gravity correspondence and Prof Gianni Tallarita who works on distinct aspects of AdS/CFT, string theory, solitons and the confinement problem. Furthermore, the group has strong collaborations with Prof Felipe Asenjo who works on relativistic and quantum plasmas and general relativity.
Interested applicants should have a PhD in high-energy theory or cosmology and should submit their CV, list of publications and a statement of research interests along with three letters of recommendation to Prof Gianni Tallarita, gianni.tallarita@uai.cl, by the 25th of February 2016.
