PNNL is seeking outstanding junior research scientists to contribute to the development of our nuclear and particle physics research program in the areas of dark matter and neutrino physics as full-time permanent staff members of the Radiation Detection & Nuclear Sciences (RD&NS) Group.

PNNL is currently participating in the ADMX, MiniCLEAN, and SuperCDMS SNOLAB dark matter experiments. In neutrino physics, PNNL is collaborating on the nEXO neutrinoless double beta decay and Project-8 neutrino mass experiments. The ideal candidates will take leading roles in furthering PNNL’s scientific impact in one or more of these experiments and areas of research. Multiple hires are anticipated.

Applicants are expected to demonstrate unique technical strengths applicable to the above listed research efforts and present a compelling vision for their contribution to these research programs. Excellent communication and presentation skills are required and a demonstrated ability to publish completed research is a key desired attribute.

The selected researcher(s) are also expected to contribute as expert resources to the RD&NS Group’s applied radiation detection programs. In this role the selected researcher(s) will assist with the cross-pollination of new methods and technologies in radiation detection relevant to both basic and applied research programs. This cross-disciplinary and entrepreneurial environment is a strength the RD&NS Group has fostered and maintained over multiple decades providing many routes for long-term career advancement at PNNL.
