Job description:
The Nuclear Theory Group, a collaboration between Penn State Berks and Old Dominion University is seeking applications to fill a position for a post-doctoral Research Associate to work on theoretical nuclear physics starting Fall 2016. Contingent on funding, the chosen candidate would be hired for a term of three years. The nuclear physics collaboration between Penn State Berks and Old Dominion consists of: Leonard Gamberg (PSU), Alexei Prokudin (PSU), and Ted Rogers (ODU&JLAB).
The group’s research interests and activities are concentrated on QCD and hadron structure. This includes: the application of perturbative QCD to the 3-Dimensional hadron structure; QCD factorization theorems; the extraction of Transverse Momentum Dependent distributions from the experimental data; a focus on the phenomenology of the spin physics program at BNL, Jefferson Lab and elsewhere; and the implication of all such studies for future experimental programs in Nuclear Physics such as a future Electron-Ion Collider. A strong publication record in these areas of interest is essential, together with a PhD in hadron or nuclear physics.
Application materials should include: a cover letter; CV; research statement; a publication list; and three letters of recommendation.
Applicants must apply online in order to be considered; apply to Job #61157 at psu.jobs.
Copies of these materials should also be sent to: Leonard Gamberg at lpg10@psu.edu and Ted Rogers at trogers@odu.edu. Requested materials must be received by January 20, 2016 to receive full consideration; however review of applications will begin immediately.
