Job description:

The Sub-department of Particle Physics at the University of Oxford invites applications from talented and highly qualified candidates for a postdoctoral Beecroft Fellowship to work at the interface of particle physics and cosmology on the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST) on a fixed-term 3 year contract.

The postholder will be involved in the detailed characterisation of LSST CCDs for the 3.2 Gigapixel LSST camera and participate in camera integration and testing. The postholder will also participate in the analysis of precursor data using weak gravitational lensing to determine the equation of state of dark energy.

The postholder will be joining one of the largest LSST university-based groups with interests across the breadth of LSST science. The post is available from February 2016. The successful candidate will hold a Doctorate in Particle Physics, Astrophysics or a related discipline. The postholder should have a demonstrated capacity for independent work and be capable of initiating research in a lively group. The post will be based partly in Oxford and also at BNL, Harvard or SLAC. When in Oxford the postholder will have the opportunity to teach.
