Postdoctoral openings will be available for outstanding individuals to work with Prof. Katherine Freese in the areas of particle astrophysics and cosmology. The positions are funded by the Swedish Research Council.

Stockholm University has a world-class research group in cosmology at the Oskar Klein Centre for Cosmoparticle Physics, including involvement in DarkSUSY, XENON-1T, Icecube/DeepCore, FERMI Gamma Ray Space Telescope, and ATLAS at CERN. Postdoctoral associates are welcome to participate in Scientific Programs at Nordita, the Nordic Institute for Theoretical Physics, which bring together groups of leading experts to work on specific topics for extended periods. The postdoctoral associates will also have access to generous research and travel funds, excellent benefits as well as excellent computing facilities.

Main responsibilities

The central research themes will be dark matter, Dark Stars, dark energy, and inflationary cosmology.

Qualification requirements

Postdoctoral positions are appointed primarily for purposes of research. Applicants are expected to hold a Swedish doctoral degree or an equivalent degree in Physics or Astronomy in research areas stated above, from another country.

Assessment criteria

The degree should have been completed no more than three years before the deadline for applications. An older degree may be acceptable under special circumstances, which may involve sick leave, parental leave, clinical attachment, elected positions in trade unions, or similar.

In the appointment process, special attention will be given to research skills.

Terms of employment

The position involves full-time employment for a maximum of two years, with the possibility of extension under special circumstances. Start date as per agreement.
