Region: Europe
Job description:
The CMS group of the RWTH Aachen University, Institute IIIB, has a vacancy for a Post-doctoral Research Associate to work on the data analysis at the CERN Large Hadron Collider.
The activity of the group is focused on the study of final states with tau leptons. This includes gauge boson and Higgs boson decays into tau leptons to perform precision tests of the Standard Model and explore the electroweak symmetry breaking.
Your profile:
University degree and Ph.D. in particle physics or equivalent qualification. Experience in data analysis in particle physics experiments, the ability to perform unique and outstanding research activities and to coordinate a research group.
Your duties and responsibilities:
The successful applicant will be expected to make significant personal contributions to the data analysis of the experiment. This includes taking over responsibilities in the coordination, performing research work independently and supervising bachelor, master and Ph. D. students.
The post is located at the RWTH University Aachen and will require frequent travel to CERN and other partner institutes to play a visible role in the physics analysis and report on progress in the research work in the university.
The position will give an excellent chance for further academic qualification. Teaching is expected and a formal habilitation possible.
