Field of Interest:hep-ex
Experiments:CERN-LHC-LHCb
Deadline: 2018-04-22
Region: Europe
Job description:
The Heidelberg LHCb group has a wide range of analysis interests
and is involved in numerous analysis in the area of mixing and CP
violation, electroweak penguin decays, analysis of semileptonic
decays, charm physics, hadron spectroscopy and recently started
efforts in the area of exotic searches. The group has taken a leading
role in the design, the construction and the management of the forward
tracking system for the upgrade. The detector is based on scintillating
fibres, which are read out by silicon photo-multipliers. In addition
the Heidelberg group works on the tracking software for the upgraded
detector and develops filter algorithms for the high-level trigger.
We are seeking to strengthen our analysis activities in the area of
electroweak penguin decays, semileptonic decays and exotic searches.
Furthermore, successful applicants are expected to make significant
contributions to either our software activities in pattern
recognition or to the commissioning of the LHCb scintillating fibre
tracker. Part or full time stay at CERN is encouraged.
The position is initially for two years with the possibility for
extension.
Applicants must have a PhD in experimental particle physics or in a
related field with relevant experience. Applications including CV, a
research statement and three letter of references should be sent to
Prof. Stephanie Hansmann-Menzemer
menzemer@physi.uni-heidelberg.de
Prof. Ulrich Uwer
uwer@physi.uni-heidelberg.de
Applications are considered until the position is filled.
Those which are received before 22nd of April 2018 get our full attention.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us!
Heidelberg University is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes
applications from women. Handicapped applicants will be preferentially
treated, if equally qualified.
