Field of Interest:hep-ph
Deadline: 2015-12-15
Region: Europe
Job description:
The Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) has an opening for a full time faculty position at the Department of Physics. The position is aimed at an excellent candidate to take a leading role in the coordination and further development of the research in (astro-)particle phenomenology. The successful candidate is expected to initiate new projects and acquire the necessary research funding. In addition to this, the ability to teach physics courses at all university levels is required.
The VUB Strategic Research Program “High-Energy Physics” (HEP@VUB) hosts established research teams in (formal) theory, collider physics and experimental astroparticle physics. To connect these teams, a research effort in particle phenomenology was started in 2010. The purpose of the present opening is to consolidate this effort by hiring a permanent faculty member in this area, thus creating an independent research team in (astro-)particle phenomenology within HEP@VUB.
Candidates should have a strong international research track record within (astro-)particle phenomenology. To allow efficient communication with the theorists and experimentalists already present, good knowledge of high energy theory as well as experimental aspects is preferred. Priority will be given to outstanding candidates who have the potential to complement the efforts of the established research teams, to strengthen the synergy between them, and to explore opportunities for new joint research projects.
