Job description:
Research Scientist in Experimental Particle Physics
The Institute of Particle Physics in Canada, IPP (http://www.ipp.ca), is inviting applications for an IPP Research Scientist position.
Candidates are expected to have postdoctoral experience showing an exceptional record of research accomplishment and potential for leadership in experimental particle physics. The Research Scientist appointment is associated with an academic research position at a Canadian university that is an Institutional Member of IPP. IPP Research Scientists have the right, and are expected, to hold research grants and to supervise graduate students. The initial IPP Research Scientist appointment may be made continuing following a tenure review after three years of employment. IPP strives for diversity and increased gender equity, consequently applications from women and other under-represented groups in the natural sciences are particularly encouraged.
The current IPP experimental program includes the following IPP Projects that are in the data-collecting phase or under construction: ATLAS, Belle II, DEAP-3600, EXO, IceCube, NA62, PICO, SNO+, SuperCDMS, T2K, Veritas. These projects represent a broad and complementary set of experiments positioned to discover new fundamental physics. IPP Research Scientists play leadership roles supporting the Canadian particle physics community and work on at least one IPP Project.
The choice of IPP Project and Canadian university affiliation will be determined by mutual agreement between the candidate and IPP. The position will be available as early as 1 September 2018.
Please submit a curriculum vitae and statement of research interests and plans via Academic Jobs Online* (https://AcademicJobsOnline.org/ajo/jobs/10820). Applicants are requested to arrange for confidential letters of recommendation from at least three referees to be submitted via this site.
The deadline for receipt of complete applications is 16 March 2018.
Questions about the position are welcome and can be sent to Dr. J. M. Roney, Director, Institute of Particle Physics (director@ipp.ca).
All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, in accordance with Canadian Immigration requirements, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority.
