Job description:
The Higher School of Economics Laboratory of Methods for Big Data Analysis (LAMBDA) in Moscow, Russia invites applications for postdoctoral research positions in the field of develop methods of contemporary Data Science that covers variety of topics from meta-machine learning and application of machine-learning algorithms to problem domains along with organization of collaborative research workflows that would enable benefits of modern virtualization and cloud infrastructures in both computation and publication aspects.
The job involves:
- working under the direct supervision of Dr. Andrey Ustyuzhanin;
- participants are encouraged to pursue their own research in parallel with working pursue their own research in parallel with working on Laboratory of Methods for Big Data Analysis research projects in 3 broad areas:
o solving challenges of the High Energy Physics and Astrophysics by applications of machine learning;
o improving machine (deep) learning tools and methods to deal with domain-specific problems;
o collaborative research, reproducibility and result publication;
o writing research papers for international peer-reviewed journals in co-authorship with the members of the Lab;
- o participation in organization of the events and other contribution to the Lab’s development;
o public presentations of candidate’s own research to the researchers in the field and the broader academic community;
- o some teaching is encouraged, though not required.
The Lab offers access to its databases and analytical software, as well as hardware computational resources.
Requirements:
- a PhD from an international research university in such fields as data science, software engineering, computer science;
- a strong background mathematics, data science, meta-learning algorithms
- ability to work in a team,
- fluent English
- relevant experience is an asset although not required
