Research Associate
Theoretical Physics Group, Department of Physics
South Kensington Campus
Salary range: £36,800 - £44,220 per annum
Fixed Term: 2 years available from 1st October 2018
Applications are invited for one or more Research Associate positions in the Theoretical Physics Group, Department of Physics at Imperial College London, which undertakes world-leading research in key areas of theoretical physics including string theory, quantum field theory, cosmology, quantum foundations and gravity.
The positions are to work primarily with members of the String and M-theory section of the group. This includes Prof Mike Duff, Prof Jerome Gauntlett, Prof Amihay Hanany, Prof Chris Hull, Prof Kelly Stelle, Prof Arkady Tseytlin, Prof Daniel Waldram and Prof Toby Wiseman.
Essential criteria include:
- Hold a PhD (or equivalent level of professional qualifications and experience) in Theoretical Physics.
- Outstanding research experience in string theory, quantum field theory, gauge-gravity duality, black holes, and/or related topics.
- Experience in giving talks at internationally recognised conferences and workshops.
- Experience in carrying out research of high quality, independently and in a team, with evidence provided by a portfolio of high quality research publications.

Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range £32,380 - £34,040 per annum.
