Job description:

We invite applications for a postdoctoral position at the University of Maryland, College Park (MD).

The University of Maryland HEP group (PIs: Drew Baden, Alberto Belloni, Sarah Eno, Nicholas Hadley, Andris Skuja) plays a leading role in searches for new phenomena using the Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) experiment at the LHC, and in detector operations and upgrade construction. The physics program includes searches for exotic states and new physics in signatures with large missing energy, and Standard Model (SM) measurements, with a focus on the electroweak sector of the SM.

The group is active in the upgrade project of the CMS calorimeter. The successful candidate will be expected to initially spend a considerable fraction of his/her time at CERN, and participate in the upgrade project.

The group is looking for an outstanding applicant who has obtained, or is about to obtain, a Ph.D. in Experimental Particle Physics.

Applicants are requested to send a letter describing their research experience and interests, curriculum vitae, and a list of key publications to which he or she made a specific contribution.

Application material is to be sent to the attention of Dr. Alberto Belloni at:

abelloni@umd.edu

Candidates should also arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent to the same email address.

The review of applications will begin as they are received, and the position will remain open until filled.

The University of Maryland is an equal opportunity employer.
