Job description:
Applications are invited for the above STFC funded post to begin in January 2016 or earlier if possible, in which candidates will have the opportunity to work with members of both the particle theory and quantum gravity groups. Candidates with research interests in the area of Dark Matter, Dark Energy or Modified Gravity are encouraged to apply.

The successful applicant will be expected to have completed or be about to complete a PhD in Physics, Mathematics or a related subject. They will need to have had experience of research into one or more of the following areas: the Direct Detection of Dark Matter, the cosmological constant problem, testing for dark energy in the laboratory and cosmology as well as explaining the observed acceleration of the universe through modified theories of gravity.

During the course of the appointment the successful candidate will be expected to collaborate with members of the particle theory and/or quantum gravity groups on related topics, as well as to carry out their own independent research. There will be opportunities for the candidate to teach graduate level courses and they will be expected to play a full role in the day to day running of the groups, including organising weekly seminars or running the weekly journal clubs.
