Job description:

The following post is available immediately: Lectureship in any field of physics.

 

Research fields in the School include theoretical and experimental condensed matter and materials physics, astrophysics, radio astronomy and astro-particle physics, experimental and theoretical high energy physics, including string theory, phenomenology and gravitation, nuclear physics and photonics. The DST-NRF Centre of Excellence in Strong Materials, hosted by the University of the Witwatersrand, is well established, in which the School of Physics plays a leading role. The School hosts the Gauteng node of the National Institute for Theoretical Physics, the Materials Physics Research Institute, the Mandelstam Institute for Theoretical Physics and three DST-NRF Chairs. The School is a member of the SA-CERN consortium.

 

Qualifications: A PhD is a requirement. Postdoctoral research experience with a good publication record and teaching experience are an added advantage.

 

Final selection will be made on the basis of scholarship and potential to contribute to the work and reputation of the School.

 

Duties: Lecturers are expected to pursue research, teach and participate in the administration of the School, Faculty and University.
