Job description:
The John Adams Institute for Accelerator Physics at the Department of Physics, Royal Holloway, University of London invites applications for the post of Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Accelerator Physics to work on the development of advanced transverse beam size monitoring instrumentation based on transition and diffraction radiation mechanisms for particle accelerators.

The position is offered as part of the CLIC-UK project jointly funded by STFC via the John Adams Institute for Accelerator Science and CERN. The successful candidate will join an international collaboration spanning RHUL (UK), CERN (Switzerland) and KEK (Japan). The project also foresees frequent travel internationally for experiments, meetings and conferences.

Applicants are required to have a PhD in physics, engineering or a related field, a record of high quality research, experience of working in international collaborations and independently. Essential skills also include experience in experimental accelerator beam instrumentation hardware installation, automation and remote control; data acquisition and analysis; and excellent written and oral communication skills.

This is a full time post available immediately, initially for a fixed term period of 1.5 years. This post is based in Egham, Surrey where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance of London.
