Research Associate in Theoretical Physics.

About the role
· Salary: $90,387 – $96,677 per year (plus 9.5% superannuation, and leave loading) - Level A6 – A8 salary rates from 1 July 2017
· Fixed term for 1 year with a possible extension for a second/third/fourth year.
· Full time – 35 hours per week.
Key duties and responsibilities include:
· Perform research in Theoretical Physics as directed by the supervisor including work on the project “Atomic theory and dark matter”. Perform corresponding analytical calculations and simple estimates in different areas of theoretical physics (atomic, nuclear, molecular, elementary particles, astrophysics). If necessary, use Mathematica, Maple or other package to complement the analytical calculations.
· Perform numerical calculations using our group computer codes for the relativistic atomic many-body calculations. Detailed instructions and help will be provided.
· Collaborate with other members of the research group and collaborate with PhD and
Honours students.
· Collaborate with theoretical, astrophysical and experimental groups in the School.
· Write research papers and reports.
About the successful applicant
To be successful in this role you will have:
· Complete PhD studies in theoretical physics
· Experience in one of these areas of theoretical physics: atomic, molecular, nuclear, high energy physics. Experience in numerical calculations.
· Demonstrated ability to conduct research and publish in leading international scientific journals.
· Ability and desire to learn new areas of theoretical physics and work efficiently on new ideas involving several research areas.
· An excellent research track record in the discipline area as evidenced by
publications in high impact journals.
· Ability to work effectively as part of a research team.
