The Department of Mathematics and Statistics in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University invites applications for a term faculty appointment for Academic Year 2017-2018. The appointment is a 9-month term position and will commence on August 29, 2017. Possibility of reappointment is based on satisfactory performance and budgetary authorization.
Responsibilities for a Professorial Lecturer include teaching 18-21 credits during the academic year as well as scholarship and/or service activities. Minimum qualifications are experience teaching mathematics or statistics at the college level, the ability to teach courses at the Master’s level, and a PhD in mathematics or statistics.
For those with a Master’s degree, the rank would be Instructor. Responsibilities for an Instructor include teaching 18-21 credits during the academic year as well as scholarship and/or service activities. Minimum qualifications are experience teaching mathematics or statistics at the college level and a Master’s degree in mathematics or statistics.
