Job description:

The Department of Physics, the Cavendish Laboratory, invites applications for a Research Associate in Experimental High Energy Physics to commence on 1 September 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter. The Research Associate will be based in the Department of Physics as part of the High Energy Physics group, and will work on the ATLAS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider. The Cambridge group is very active in the analysis of ATLAS data, the maintenance and operation of the ATLAS Semi-Conductor Tracker, and preparations for the upgrade of the ATLAS Inner Tracker system.

The successful candidate will have a PhD in experimental particle physics, or will be submitting a PhD thesis before 1 July 2017. The post-holder will be expected to make leading contributions within ATLAS physics analyses and to take on responsibilities for the upgrade of the ATLAS Inner Tracker system.

The Department is active in promoting policies to address historic under-representation of women and minority groups in its workforce. We are proud to hold an Athena-SWAN Gold Award for our work on equality and diversity. Candidates from under-represented groups, as well as candidates with a track record in addressing barriers to equality and diversity in education, are particularly encouraged to apply.
