The Pixel Laboratory at CCNU (PLAC) in the College of Physical Science and Technology, Central China Normal University (CCNU), Wuhan, China invites applications for one or more postdoc positions for the development of next-generation no-neutrino double-beta decay (0nBB) experiments and theoretical/computational tools in nuclear physics.
Experiments:Neutrinoless double-beta decay

Job description:
Job title: Postdoc in Nuclear Science
Topic: Neutrinoless Double-Beta Decay and Theoretical / Computational Nuclear Physics
PLAC has been developing an enabling technology, a CMOS pixel sensor called Topmetal that can directly collect and measure external electric charge arrived at exposed electrodes on the top of the sensor with exceedingly low noise, for gaseous Time Projection Chamber (TPC) readout. Based on Topmetal, we are launching a program to build a next-generation tonne-scale neutrinoless double-beta decay experiment using high-pressure gaseous TPC. Charge readout planes tiled with Topmetal sensors enable the simultaneous high-resolution energy measurement required for 0nBB and decay topology measurement for signal/background discrimination.
We are seeking one or more postdocs to make significant contributions to this exciting program. Candidates with either experimental or theoretical/computational backgrounds in nuclear/particle physics are equally encouraged to apply. Opportunities are open for instrumentation, electronics/readout/daq, detector construction and commissioning, simulation and analysis, and the development of theoretical/computational models/tools for building new physics cases and narrowing down the uncertainties in nuclear matrix elements.
Successful applicants are expected to travel for extended periods of time to collaborating facilities worldwide to conduct research.
We offer a competitive salary of up to 300k RMB/year (approx. $43k USD/year) depending on qualification. The term of appointment is initially two-year, renewable contingent upon mutual satisfaction. The university provides a benefit package including health care.
Applicants should send a research statement, a Curriculum Vitae, a list of publications and names of three references to the address below (no reference letters are initially requested).
"Dr. Xiangming Sun" <xmsun@phy.ccnu.edu.cn> or "Dr. Nu Xu" <nxu@lbl.gov>
Applications are reviewed as they are received, and the position will remain open until filled. Requests for further information should be sent to the email address above.
