Job description:
Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Particle Physics at the University of Edinburgh, to work on direct searches for dark matter with LUX ZEPLIN.
With major UK involvement, LUX ZEPLIN is a worldwide collaborative effort to make a first direct detection of dark matter, one of the most exciting prospects in physics. The instrument is presently being constructed at the Sanford Underground Research Facility in South Dakota. Strong candidates are invited to apply to work in any related area, including developing analysis capability, simulations, advanced instrumentation and low background studies. Experience in working with photomultiplier tubes will be an advantage.
Candidates are expected to have or to be working towards a PhD in particle or nuclear physics and proven expertise and technical abilities required to undertake world class research. This post is supported by the Science and Technology Facilities Council and the University of Edinburgh.
The position has a duration of 2 years with possible extension.
