Job description:
The Physics Institute of the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy in Heidelberg has a strong focus on experimental particle physics. Several research groups are contributing to the operation and data analysis of the LHC experiments ALICE, ATLAS and LHCb, and to detector upgrades in the context of High Luminosity-LHC. The ATLAS group of the institute is engaged in three upgrade projects: the Fast TracKer (FTK) project, hardware developments and simulations of new track triggers, and R&D for monolithic CMOS pixel detectors with emphasis on High Voltage-Monolithic Actice Pixel Sensors (HV-MAPS).

The ATLAS group is searching for a talented particle physicist who has profound knowledge and experience in at least one of the following areas: silicon-semiconductors; tracking detector R&D and operation; track reconstruction; detector simulation; trigger and data acquisition. The candidate is expected to play a leading role in the current R&D activities of the group, particularly for the development of an HV-CMOS demonstrator for the ATLAS Inner Tracker Upgrade (ITK) for HL-LHC.
