Postdoctoral Positions in Experimental
High Energy Physics at UC Davis
The experimental high energy physics group at the University of California, Davis, invites applications for three postdoctoral research positions in experimental particle physics on the CMS experiment. A Ph.D. in particle physics is required. Details of the positions are as follows:
Two positions: Based at CERN for first stint, then at CERN, Davis and/or FNAL. Phase 1 pixel detector operations, HL-LHC pixel and outer tracker R&D and construction, and data analysis in the areas of Higgs measurements and exotic Higgs searches. Working with Profs. Chertok and Conway.
One position: Based at UC Davis. Studies of radiation hardness of detectors and materials using the Crocker cyclotron and the McClellan reactor. Supervising a team of graduate students conducting physics searches in dark sector and exotic Higgs bosons at CMS. Working with Profs. Mulhearn and Tripathi.
The UC Davis group has been deeply involved in CMS since its beginning, and has made major contributions to both hardware and software aspects of the forward pixel, endcap muon, and trigger systems. Currently, the group is participating in detector operations and upgrades, and is heavily involved in data analysis in many areas. These include Higgs measurements, searches for exotic Higgs and dark matter phenomena with leptons (including taus), searches with photons, and searches with boosted top quarks and vector bosons. The group is also developing projects for detector upgrades for High-Luminosity LHC. The CMS effort at UC Davis comprises five faculty, one senior researcher, five postdoctoral researchers, and ten graduate students.
