The nuclear theory group at Louisiana State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher or Senior Postdoctoral Researcher to work with members of the nuclear theory group and perform scientific research in the forefront area of ab initio nuclear structure and reactions for light to medium-mass nuclei.
Postdoctoral Researcher: The successful candidate will be able to advance first-principle reaction studies toward heavier nuclei with impact on nuclear astrophysics. In addition, the successful candidate will utilize LSU's symmetry-adapted no-core shell model and interact with members of LSU's groups with strong research in related areas including experimental nuclear physics and neutrino physics. Responsibilities will include participating in the training of graduate students, publishing results and presenting of results at conferences and meetings.
Senior Postdoctoral Researcher: The successful candidate will be leading a research project with the aim to advance reaction studies toward heavier nuclei with impact on nuclear astrophysics. In addition, the successful candidate will utilize LSU's symmetry-adapted no-core shell model and interact with members of LSU's groups with strong research in related areas including experimental nuclear physics and neutrino physics. Responsibilities will include training of graduate students, publishing results, presenting of results at conferences and meetings, and participating in grant-related activities.
Required Qualifications:
Postdoctoral Researcher: The candidate must have a Ph.D. in theoretical physics. ABD candidates will be considered. Degree must be conferred by time of appointment.
Senior Postdoctoral Researcher: The candidate must have a Ph.D. in theoretical physics or astrophysics, and three years of related work experience. Prior experience in reaction theory and/or in nuclear astrophysics is required.
