Job description:
The Department of Physics, University of Alberta (https://www.ualberta.ca/physics) invites applications for one or two tenure-track faculty position(s) in experimental astroparticle physics. We primarily seek candidates at the Assistant Professor level, but exceptional candidates at a more senior level will be considered. Applicants must possess a PhD in Physics, have an established research program, and be committed to excellence in teaching. We encourage applications from candidates in the fields of neutrino physics or dark matter searches who are expected to become leaders of the SNOLAB science program in the current and next generation of experiments.
The successful candidate(s) will establish a world-class research program at SNOLAB as a part of the Canadian Particle Astrophysics Research Centre (CPARC, http://www.cparc.ca), recently established by the Canada First Research Excellence Fund. As part of the Department of Physics and Faculty of Science strategy to build a world-class cluster in astroparticle physics, an additional position could be available for exceptional candidates in the area of theoretical astroparticle physics. For this position, a successful candidate who meets the Faculty's strategic needs may be considered for nomination for a Tier 2 Canada Research Chair.
The Department of Physics has approximately 48 faculty with research interests in condensed matter physics, astrophysics, geophysics and experimental and theoretical particle physics. The Centre for Particle Physics currently has seven experimental faculty members with research focuses on ATLAS, neutrino physics (SNO+, IceCube) and dark matter searches (DEAP 3600, PICO, IceCube).
A CV, list of publications, a statement of research interests, and a summary of teaching interests is required. Please combine these documents into one .pdf file to upload to the application page.
