Job description:
Post-doctoral position in the framework of a large research project supported by foundation FAPESP (http://www.fapesp.br) in Brazil.

Study of quantum effects in strong electromagnetic and gravitational fields violating the vacuum stability. It is supposed the development of general Quantum Field Theory for this kind of processes and its application to calculation of various effects in external fields of particular structure.

Candidates should possess good knowledge of all main concepts of quantum mechanics (relativistic and non-relativistic), methods of Quantum Field Theory, in particular, Quantum Electrodynamics with unstable vacuum within the scope of the book "Quantum electrodynamics with unstable vacuum" (Springer, 1991) by Fradkin, Gitman and Shvartsman.

Candidates must have a PhD in Physics. Other formal restrictions may also apply, verify at http://fapesp.br/bolsas/pd (English version at http://fapesp.br/en/5427). The research activities are to be conducted in the Institute of Physics, University of Sao Paulo, Sao Paulo, under the guidance of Prof. Dmitri M. Guitman. Salaries and benefits are in accordance with FAPESP (R$ 6.819 per month, see http://www.fapesp.br/3162). This is a contract for a period of two years, with a possibility of renewal until November 30, 2021.
