JOB DESCRIPTION
The Vacuum Group is responsible for the vacuum systems for the ESRF’s particle accelerators. The scope of the mission includes analysis, maintenance, repair, modifications and development for vacuum generation devices, chambers and instrumentation. The Group provides assistance to the ESRF experimental stations (beamlines) for any vacuum issues, design, installation, operation and maintenance, vacuum measurement/analysis and interlock systems. You will work in a team of 18 engineers and technicians.
Your missions are the following:

The annual gross salary will be within the range 25 – 30k€ and additional allowances may apply.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Vacuum Group is responsible for the vacuum systems for the ESRF’s particle accelerators. The scope of the mission includes analysis, maintenance, repair, modifications and development for vacuum generation devices, chambers and instrumentation. The Group provides assistance to the ESRF experimental stations (beamlines) for any vacuum issues, design, installation, operation and maintenance, vacuum measurement/analysis and interlock systems. Your missions are the following:
- Follow up the production and qualification of prototype and series production ultra high vacuum (UHV) - chamber assemblies and heating elements on site or at subcontractor’s premises.
- Qualify prototype and pre-series chambers and devices by means of outgassing measurements and residual gas analysis.
- Qualify and improve heating technics and elements for thermal treatment of vacuum chambers, integrate these into assembly and installation of a large vacuum system, document the corresponding hardware and procedures.
- Participate into the application of functional surface to the inside of the vacuum chambers (PVD coating)
- Produce qualified technical reports about the work carried out
- Participate in modification and troubleshooting on the existing ESRF vacuum systems.

PROFILE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- You should hold a technician degree (BSc, Licence, HND, HNC, BTS, DUT, Bachelor, Meister, - Vordiplom, Perito, Laurea Triennale, Diplomatura, Ingenieria Técnica or equivalent) in mechanics or physical technics
- 2to 5years of professional experience
- Skills in vacuum technology
- Knowledge and/or experience in assembly of sensitive mechanical assemblies with presence of electrical devices and measurement gauges
- Good communication skills
- Proficiency in English (working language at the ESRF)
