Job description:
The astro-particle physics group of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) is offering a postdoc position to work in the AMS-02 experiment.
The selected candidate will pursue research related to the field of Astroparticles, and will carry out research on the following topics:
· Participation in the analysis of data obtained with the AMS-02 Experiment. The successful candidate will collaborate in the measurement of the light to intermediate charge nuclear component of cosmic rays.
· Participation in the detector operations in the AMS Payload Operation Control Center located in CERN (Geneva). Frequent travel to CERN during the contract period is foreseen.
Preference will be given to researchers with a strong track record in the field of very high-energy astrophysics. The successful candidate should have a good publication record and leading original research experience.
To be eligible for admission, applicants must have obtained a Ph.D. degree in Astroparticle Physics, Astrophysics or Particle Physics, within the application deadline (January 15, 2017). Those candidates who have done their PhD research at the IAC must have undertaken a period of training at other research centres. This period must consist of either one continuous year or 18 accumulated months (including periods of training during their doctoral period).
The duration of the contract will be for a period of two years. The starting date is expected to be in March 1, 2017.
