Field of Interest:hep-ph, hep-th, math, math-ph
Deadline: 2016-12-18
Region: Europe
Job description:
This is a three year postdoctoral position within the recently established Simons Collaboration on Special Holonomy, generously funded by the Simons Foundation. The successful candidate will work directly with Professor Bobby Acharya on physical and mathematical aspects of string and M theory, with a particular focus on manifolds of G2 holonomy as models of the extra dimensions. On the mathematical side the research to be undertaken may include: applications of new constructions of G2-manifolds; constructions of singular G2-manifolds; constructions of G2-instantons. On the physics side, the research will include: physical applications of new constructions of G2-manifolds; the phenomenology of string and M theory compactifications based on special holonomy manifolds; development of models of hidden sector dark matter from string/M theory; detailed investigations of the physics of moduli and axions and their observational consequences. There will be significant interaction with other members of the Simons Collaboration and the post comes with significant travel funds. Details of the collaboration may be accessed here:

Anyone applying for this role is kindly asked to send a CV, list of publications and letters of recommendation to Prof. Bobby Acharya at bobby.acharya@kcl.ac.uk using the subject title ‘Simons Postdoc’ by December 18th 2016. A formal application (to be completed by January 2nd 2017) will also be required via https://www.hirewire.co.uk/HE/1061247/MS_JobDetails.aspx?JobID=74289
