Deadline: 2016-11-21
Region: North America
Job description:
The T-2 group, Nuclear and Particle Physics, Astrophysics and Cosmology (NPAC), in the Theoretical Division at Los Alamos National Laboratory invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher with a focus on the physics of particles and nuclei in the early universe, and related fields, to begin in Fall 2017. Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. in an NPAC-related theoretical discipline by the beginning of the postdoctoral appointment (but no earlier than January 2012 per LANL policy).
The successful candidate will join a group of about 20 theorists working in NPAC-related fields, in aspects both applied and fundamental, and will be encouraged to join ongoing collaborations among T-2 group members that involve external researchers. Research will address a range of topics, including neutrino physics and astrophysics, nuclear astrophysics, astroparticle physics and cosmology, nuclear reactions and structure, effective theories of strong and weak interactions, low-energy phenomenology within and beyond the Standard Model, and quantum few- and many-body systems at zero and finite temperature; candidates in all these and related areas are encouraged to apply. Demonstrated strength in both analytical and computational methods is essential.
Exceptionally well qualified candidates may be considered for a Director's Postdoctoral Fellowship or a Distinguished Fellowship (Curie, Feynman, or Oppenheimer).
Los Alamos is an equal opportunity employer. Women and minorities are strongly encouraged to apply.
Interested applicants should submit their applications (CV, research statement, and list of publications) on academicjobsonline.org and arrange to have at least three letters of recommendation uploaded on your behalf. Applications should be submitted by 20 November, 2016 for full consideration.
