The Department of Physics & Astronomy (http://www.physics.sunysb.edu/Physics/) at Stony Brook University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor faculty position to start in September 2016 in the field of Nuclear Theory. Preference will be given to candidates working in lattice gauge theory related to hadronic structure.

The initial appointment will be a cooperative fellowship with the RIKEN BNL Research Center (RBRC) at Brookhaven National Laboratory for a period of up to five years. During this period the successful candidate will spend about half of his or her time at the Stony Brook University and the other half at the RBRC in nearby Brookhaven National Laboratory. At the end of this initial period the candidate will be considered for promotion with tenure to full time associate professor at Stony Brook University.

A Ph.D. or equivalent degree in nuclear or high energy physics is required, with postdoctoral experience highly desirable. The person hired is expected to develop a research program in the area of lattice gauge theory, and to participate in the teaching and professional activities while at Stony Brook University, and to supervise undergraduate and graduate students.
