DESY, Zeuthen location, is seeking:
Postdoc (f/m) Multi-Messenger Astronomy and/or Cosmology

DESY

DESY is one of the world’s leading research centres for photon science, particle and astroparticle physics as well as accelerator physics.

DESY at its Zeuthen location in the outskirts of Berlin is a leading centre for astroparticle physics with a focus on gamma-ray and neutrino astronomy. Together with the active Supernova & Cosmology group at the Humboldt University (HU) of Berlin, DESY participates in the building and science operations of the new wide field optical survey Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF), which will see first light in 2017 and provide an unprecedendent large number of optical transients. The DESY group is leading the optical follow-up program of the IceCube neutrino observatory, aiming at the detection of the sources of the newly discovered flux of extragalactic neutrinos. The postdoc would work primarly on ZTF and has the opportunity to join the multi-messenger or cosmology effort.

-Close interaction with the multi-messenger groups at DESY
-Participation in the supervision of students

Requirements
-PhD in physics or astronomy
-Strong data-analysis and computing skills
