| The Sub-department of Particle Physics at the University of Oxford is currently seeking a talented and highly qualified postdoctoral research assistant to work on the LHCb experiment on a 3-year fixed-term contract. The postholder will join one of the most prominent University groups in the LHCb collaboration. Our effort is focused on, but not limited to, the exploration of the flavour sector via the study of heavy hadron decays. We have significant involvement in the RICH and Vertex Locator (VeLo) projects, their operation and upgrades, and maintain an important role in the PID calibration. The successful candidate will take a leading role in the analysis of LHCb data from Run I and Run II. The candidate can expect to contribute to a variety of beauty and charm physics topics. The candidate will contribute to the operation of the VeLo and take a significant role in the monitoring and characterisation of that subdetector. The contract will be fixed-term and available from 1 October 2015. The successful candidate will hold a doctorate in particle physics. The post will be based in Oxford with the likelihood of an extended period at CERN to cover operational responsibilities. Teaching duties of up to 3 hours per week during University term may be required. Please read the "Person Specification and Job Description" before preparing your application.
