Job description

Center for Axion and Precision Physics (CAPP) at the Institute for Basic Science (IBS) in Korea invites applications for postdoctoral associate position in Experimental Particle Physics, broadly defined, which can start in the Fall 2016.

The candidate is expected to work on axion search from exotic spin-dependent interactions. Main work will be the development of optical magnetometry with GPS linked stations in GNOME collaboration. The candidate is also possible to contribute  R&D of ARIADNE experiment which detects axion-mediated spin-dependent interaction with polarized 3He gas and SQUID.

Ph.D within recent three years or Ph.D candidate with foreseen degree date no later than September 1st 2015 in experimental particle physics, AMO, condensed matter physics or nuclear physics is required. Experience in optical magnetometer, spin physics is desired. Experience in magnetics shielding, SQUID and/or low temperature physics is also helpful.

The initial appointments will be for 2 years, and can be extended for additional one year subject to the review based on the performance.

CAPP is a research center in IBS in South Korea, founded at 2013, for experimental axion research with 15 PhD scientist. We are involved in precise experiments for axion search  such as axion haloscope experiments and other precision experiments like proton EDM experiment. More information can be found at http://capp.ibs.re.kr/html/capp_en. IBS is national research institute mainly for basic science researches with ~30 research centers. More information can be found at http://www.ibs.re.kr/eng.do. CAPP is located inside KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) at Daejeon, Korea. CAPP/IBS is an equal opportunity employer. Korean citizenship is not required for application, and English is the common language spoken at the Center.

Applications should consist of a CV, a publication list, a research statement and three or more letters of recommendation, and be submitted to yunshin@ibs.re.kr. Review of applications will begin August 15th, 2016 and continue until the position is filled.
