Job description:
KIT invites applications for a postdoctoral position at the Institute of Experimental Nuclear Physics to work on the Karlsruhe Tritium Neutrino Experiment (KATRIN) which is currently being commissioned and prepared for the start of data-taking at the Campus North site of KIT.
KATRIN will investigate the absolute neutrino mass scale via high-precision spectroscopy of tritium beta decay close to the kinematic endpoint. The successful candidate will be part of a research group dedicated to preparations for first data with KATRIN, and, after the start of the measurement programme, to data analysis. More specifically, the tasks of the group include in-depth studies of systematic uncertainties of the experiment (in particular of the source section), as well as the development of data analysis procedures and tools. Hence, the research portfolio of the postdoctoral position covers both hardware- and software-related aspects.
Remuneration occurs on the basis of the wage agreement of the civil service in TV-L (E13). Earliest starting date of the position is November 1, 2016, with a contract duration of 2 years.
Applications including a CV, most recent/important academic certificates, a list of publications, and a brief statement on research interests (~1 page) should be sent exclusively by email as a single pdf document (max. 10 MB) to:
Dr. Kathrin Valerius, email: kathrin.valerius@kit.edu Prof. Dr. Guido Drexlin, email: guido.drexlin@kit.edu.
Please also arrange for two letters of recommendation to be sent to the contact persons given above.
KIT is an equal opportunity employer. Women are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants with disabilities will be preferentially considered if equally qualified.
